Record Store Day 2012 had many great limited edition titles. But only one kept Passin’ Me By. The Pharcyde Bizarre Ride II boxset was extremely hard to find anywhere. I’m convinced that it never existed. indirecordstore was lucky enough to get one and is now departing with it. This boxset is so bad, it comes with 7 indivdually colored 7 inches, a double CD with unreleased mixes and instrumentals. There is also a 120 piece jigsaw puzzle of the iconic artwork. As you can see a lot workand creativity went into this. I remember when I first heard the Pharcyde back in 7th grade. Passin’ me by was the only song I would listen to weeks on end. But then I sat down and actually listened to the whole album. I realized that it was possible to write lyrics that weren’t all about being violent or crazy. Pharcyde were the chill neighbors to Gangsta Rap. The kind of guys you could have over for a round of Street Fighter II on SNES.
